World Championship 2010 – Congratulations to Steve Davis

Steve Davis made history today. He beat defending champion, and provisional number 1, John Higgins in a match that was pure drama, causing what is perhaps the biggest shock ever at the Crucible. Reaching the quarters of the most prestigious and most demanding tournament of the season at 52 is some achievement! John Higgins as always showed great sportsmanship and was full of praise for his conqueror. Congratulations Steve!

Congratulations Steve!!
Gr8 match. Excellent snooker by Steve. Edge of the seat stuff, very entertaining. Steve did well under pressure i thought. Had Higgins ratttled & he was always playing catch up.
Well done Nugget!! A Legend!

Steve seemed to find a way to minimise the unforced errors that have plagued his game (and that of fellow veterans!) the last fifteen years or so. I hope it can continue but I fear it won’t. It must be very frustrating for Steve as the safety and tactical side of his game seems virtually undiminished from his 80s heyday and is probably the main reason behind his longevity. Congrats Steve!!
