Congratulations to Judd Trump, winner of EPTC1 (Paul Hunter Classic)

Grove’s Judd Trump won the Paul Hunter Classic with a 4-3 victory over Anthony Hamilton. It was a dramatic final and both players deserve praise for their performance in the tournament. Well done guys.

Judd had previously defeated Shaun Murphy in the semis with a 4-2 score. Shaun was the defending champion and had won the event in 2008 and 2009.

Ronnie withdrew from the tournament, suffering from a bad back. He had got a bye to last 64 though, Yu Delu, his first round opponent being injured also.

Congratulations to Barry Pinches, winner of PTC event 4

Congrats go to Barry Pinches, who defeated an in-form Ronnie 4-3 tonight in Sheffield. Pinches was in his 2nd PTC final out of 4 and now leads the Order of Merit by 3000 points. Well done to both players.

Congratulations to Tom Ford, PTC3 champion

Tom Ford won his first professional title today, beating Jack Lisowski 4-0 in the Final of PTC3. Well done Tom!

Jack, managed by Grove, had previously outed Mark Selby in the semis, putting an end to a run of 12 consecutives victories in the PTCs. That’s not a mean feat for a MT rookie …

Tribute to Alex Higgins

Alex Higgins died yesterday, aged 61. He was the one who set snooker alight nearly 40 years ago …

Ronnie said “Alex was one of the real inspirations behind me getting into snooker. He is a true legend and should be forever remembered as being the finest ever snooker player.”.

Congratulations to Mark Selby winner of PTC2. He beats Barry Pinches 4-3 from 1-3 down. He scored heavily during the whole tournament making an impressive 8 centuries on his way.
Congratulations also to Barry Pinches, maybe not the guy people expected to make it to the final, but a very competent player and one of the kindest person you could meet on the circuit.
And finaly a special mention to Anthony McGill, scottish teenager and the “revelation” of this competition.

Congratulations to Mark J. Williams winner of PTC event 1.

Mark J. Williams completed a 4-0 victory over Stephen Maguire in less than 45′ to win the first PTC event. Congratulations to him. He’s well and truely back of form.

Ronnie had a decent run in the tournament with wins over Andrew Pagett (4-1), Dominic Dale (4-0), Mark Selby (4-3) and Matthew Stevens (4-1) to reach the quarters. There however he had no answer to Jamie Cope’s potting power and lost 0-4 scoring only 28 points in total.

Neil Robertson, early this morning, became the first world champion from outside the British Isles since Canada’s Cliff Thorburn in 1980 and the first ever Australian. He beat Graeme Dott 18-13 in a true marathon match. Neil’s joy was absolutely endearing.
He paid tribute to his opponent Graeme Dott, a man who has overcome serious off the table problems to regain his spot in the elite in the most outstanding way.
Hats off guys, both of you!

Ronnie lost out tonight, 13-11 to Mark Selby, in a match strewn with both errors and brilliant breaks by both players. The better player won on the day, congratulations to Mark Selby.

Ronnie O’Sullivan stepped up a gear this afternoon, played sublime snooker and beat an inform Mark Williams 13-10. Congratulations to Ronnie and commiserations to Mark. Ronnie now plays either Mark Selby or Stephen Hendry in the Quarter Finals.
